How to pack your drive for shipping
If you live outside Santo Domingo, you can ship your device by courier following these instructions to avoid additional damage.
Materials you need
- Antistatic bag (or a new Ziploc bag)
- Bubble wrap (at least 2 layers)
- Rigid cardboard box (do NOT use a soft box)
- Newspaper, foam, or soft padding
- Strong adhesive tape
Step by step
- Power off and disconnect the device. If it is an internal disk, it should already be out of the computer.
- Place the disk in an antistatic bag. If you don't have one, a clean dry Ziploc works.
- Wrap with 2–3 layers of bubble wrap. Cushioning protects from transit shocks.
- Place soft padding at the bottom of the box. Crumpled newspaper, foam, or cardboard.
- Center the wrapped disk in the box. It should NOT touch the box walls.
- Fill the side gaps with more padding until the disk does not move when you shake the box.
- Close and seal with strong tape on all three closure dimensions.
- Label as FRAGILE on at least 2 sides of the box.
Common mistakes that destroy your data
- ❌ Using an envelope or soft box with no protection.
- ❌ Shipping the disk "loose" in a box without padding.
- ❌ Packing several disks together without individual separation.
- ❌ Marking the box with strong odors or liquids.
- ❌ Shipping without following the courier's guide for electronic goods.
