How we measure our 98.6%

Honesty builds trust. Here is exactly how our success rate is calculated, how many cases it covers, what counts and what is impossible.

Exact definition

Recovery rate = cases that end with data delivered to the customer / total cases where the customer approved the recovery work.

We exclude from the denominator:

  • Cases where the customer declined after receiving the quote.
  • Cases where the diagnostic showed confirmed and unrecoverable physical damage BEFORE starting work (destroyed memory chip, melted platters, etc.) and the customer was informed.
  • Cases where the customer delivered the wrong device or cancelled due to changed needs.

Breakdown by media type

Internal estimates based on historical caseload. Every case is unique; your quote always reflects the actual diagnostic, not the average.

Media typeRateNote
Mechanical HDDs (logical + physical) 98% Cleanroom + head swap + firmware repair. Drops to 70% on drives with severe platter scoring.
SSD / NVMe 92% Chip-off, proprietary decoders. Drops to 0% on post-2020 SSDs with hardware-native encryption and no key.
RAID / NAS 99% Byte-by-byte virtual reconstruction. Near 100% when the customer did NOT attempt a manual rebuild first.
USB / SD memory 95% Drops if the SD/microSD ran aggressive TRIM or wear-leveling months ago.
Smartphones 88% Post-2020 iPhones and Androids with FBE + Secure Element are impossible without the unlock key.
Ransomware 60% Depends on the variant. We look for shadow copies, unknown offline backups, leaked keys. Not always possible without paying.
DVR / NVR (CCTV) 93% Proprietary filesystems (Hikvision, Dahua, etc.). High success rate because they are rarely encrypted.

Documented impossible cases

We do not promise magic. Some cases are mathematically impossible because of physics or cryptography. We tell you up front.

  • Post-2020 iPhones powered off and without passcode/Face ID — the Secure Enclave makes encryption unbreakable.
  • SSDs with TCG Opal / AES-256 hardware encryption active and key lost.
  • SD/microSD cards that executed TRIM/wear-leveling after deletion (months unused = cells overwritten).
  • Drives with total physical destruction (fire that melted platters, saltwater >6 months untreated).
  • BitLocker / FileVault / LUKS without the recovery key (mathematically unbreakable).
  • Servers with full DoD 7-pass overwrite.

Does your case fall in the 98.6% or the 1.4%?

The diagnostic tells you before you pay for service. Fixed quote, or no charge.
